Please respect the order.
Committee Reports: Secretary / Minutes: The minutes for the June general meeting were approved. Treasurer Report: The current balance is $4,423.30.
Membership: Judy Zaccaria reports 73 members.
Old Business: Also please remember to show respect and consideration of the speaker. Raise hands for questions and please do not have side conversations as this prevents others from hearing and is distracting.
New Business: Beginning in August, we will meet at the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch facility on Enterprise Rd. The Rec Center is a large white building with plenty of parking. Meetings will start at 9:45 but facility will be open at 9:00 to prepare.
Announcements: Our next General Membership meeting is August 17, 2016. This meeting and all others will feature members “PLANT EXCHANGE’. The plant exchange seems to be appreciated.
Speaker topic in August will be plant propagation.
This is a timely topic as we need to think about our annual December plant sale in downtown Safety Harbor. We need a chairperson or co-chairperson to organize event. We need to start propagating plants soon. Sandy Huff has offered her home for work days and storage of plants. Responsibilities will be outlined in August meeting. If we do not get enough volunteers to help, we may not be able to hold the sale and that will mean no donation to Mattie Williams Center.
Our Christmas party has a committee and will keep us posted on when in December and where it will be held! We will have a field trip to Sunken Gardens the last week in September. We will carpool and those who would like to join the group for lunch afterward at a nearby restaurant will be welcome. If you use Groupon, there may be specials available for Sunken Gardens.
Ron Altic introduced our speaker, Cynthia Grizzle, who was a wealth of information on exotic species in our area. She is an environmental scientist and the chair of the Suncoast Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area.
Adjournment time: 11:30 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Mary Faith Nicholas Secretary
